I work with my community(ies) to address … equal education and college preparation.
My friends would say I’m … organized.
Fun fact: I enjoy running, fishing and playing percussion. I expect to be a high school biology teacher by fall 2022.
The best part about the Certificate in Engaged Leadership is … the reflections that take projects from service (or knowing what to do) to service-learning (or knowing why you do what you do). The reflections allowed me to think about my work in a new way. Engaging in service-learning helps you to find your sense of purpose.
My community partner(s) taught me … to use empathy to better hear the students and their stories.
I’ve also learned that engaged leaders … see the causes and the symptoms of social issues.
Other projects and organizations I’m committed to include… being an RA who supports residents.
I plan to continue my journey as an engaged leader by … continuing to use reflection with service.
