Rethinking Interdisciplinary Studies
Funding travel for a conference presentation on a climate change and service-learning course in Vietnam
The Mekong Delta in Vietnam is one of the global regions most vulnerable to climate change. During the 2016-17 academic year, undergraduates enrolled in the course “Climate Change Awareness and Service-Learning in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam” had the unique opportunity to see first-hand the problems faced by people living in the area. Course creator Thúy Tranviet will discuss the development of the course and student learning outcomes at the 2018 Comparative and International Education Society conference. Her presentation will focus on the interdisciplinary nature of the course, particularly how it integrated service-learning and academic instruction.
